Don Mikel has taught English as a Second Language in Canada, Taiwan, Oman, UAE and Qatar since 2005. Prior to being named Director of the Language School at QIASS, Mr. Mikel was an ESL instructor at Qatar’s Police Training Institute. He holds three graduate degrees in Education, including one in Educational Psychology and two in English Language Teaching. He has been a Language School Director in Taiwan, and prior to his retirement in Ontario, Canada in 2006, he was an administrator in corrections, policing and hospitals. Don has taught in Colleges and Universities in Canada and was an adjunct associate Professor at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Mr. Mikel has written a number of published articles in the justice and education fields and has audited curriculum for the Ontario Police College. He is a registered social worker and from 2002-2006 had a private practice in psychotherapy, mainly focused on high school and university students, and faculty.
