May 19, 2013
Japanese Ambassador Kenjiro Monji donated 60 books related to Japan, including Japanese language textbooks, to Qatar International Academy for Security Studies (QIASS) yesterday.
The donation ceremony, which took place at QIASS’s campus, was attended by Martin Reardon, Senior Director in Training Operation, and Hiroo Aridome, Language Programme Coordinator (lecturer in Japanese), as well as many students majoring in Japanese.
This is the first book donation by the Embassy of Japan to QIASS. Ambassador Monji expressed his wish that the collaboration with QIASS will be deepened and promoted in future.
Donation of books by the Embassy of Japan to Qatari institutions in collaboration with the Japan Foundation is part of the embassy’s efforts to promote cultural ties between Japan and Qatar.
The books in English, Arabic and Japanese cover various aspects of Japan, including history, literature, social sciences, arts, cooking, pop culture and so on.
